The best tattoo artist in all of Malta!

It’s not often that when you walk into a tattoo studio that you get tattooed by a women artist let alone that artist being the owner of the tattoo shop. But one of my favorite things about traveling is getting permanent souvenirs, tattoos. So as I was traveling to the small country of Malta I knew it would be easier to narrow down my options of tattoo studios.
Immediately upon looking I decided on one that was fortunately in Sliema where I was staying. I booked my appointment and thought of the designs that I wanted to get.
Women Owned
I loved the idea that this tattoo shop was women owned and operated by the lovely Ann. As soon as I walked in she greeted me and we began talking about the designs that I was wanting to get on my wrist. Her shop was filled with beautiful art that she had done and she made the experience so smooth and easy.
While she was tattooing me she told me how she was a native of Malta and wanted to open up her own studio. I was so amazed because it was the first time that I was tattooed by a woman. We talked about so many things from life, religion, art, etc. and it was like talking to a friend or family member.

Tetelestai
The first tattoo I decided on getting was one that I had seen on an Instagram influencer but hers was more on her forearm and a lot bigger. What it read was the word “tetelestai” which is the Greek word for “it is finished” and the last thing that Jesus said as he died on the cross. However, the meaning and placement for me was to cover some self harm scars and remind myself that any troubles or struggles that I am going through are already finished and will end in due time. It gives me hope looking at this tattoo that whatever I am going through will not last forever and the universe already has the solution coming.

Fearless
The second tattoo I had her do on my other wrist was another word. This time in Arabic and read the word “fearless” or in other translations I have been told can say “knows no fear” or “without fear.” Essentially the reason that I got this tattoo was a word that I can say represents the main thing that I learned while living and traveling abroad. That is to be fearless everywhere I went. To not fear the places, the language, the people, the religion, but to be open minded and know that I was protected and had nothing to fear. I also chose the word to be in Arabic because after my trip to Morocco I loved the way Arabic was written from right to left and how beautifully the characters flowed together.
These tattoos continue to be some of my favorite that I have gotten so far and the memory of getting it done by an amazing women in Malta makes them even more special. I hope to get another tattoo from her in the future when I visit Malta again.
